ABOUT US

Robert and Anne Davey would like to welcome you to their 80 acre family run Beef & Sheep Farm.

Pound Farm has been in the Davey family for 3 generations, Rob’s grandparents bought the farm in 1945, and the Davey family have been farming here ever since.  Anne also grew up on a working farm and her parents farmed near Honiton, in East Devon.

We took over the family Farm in 2001 and we absolutely love living here.
We also have 4 amazing boys.

THE FARM

You can see farming life throughout the seasons.
We start lambing mid-January and then again in March /April, this is a great time of year to visit and see all the newborn lambs.
We have on average 300 sheep, mainly  Dorset Cross Ewes plus a small flock of Suffolk Ewes, the Rams are Dorsets & Charollais and we have about 120 Cattle.
Our chickens (15) are free-range, they enjoy wondering all across our farmyard & fields and they lay the most amazing eggs!

Each season has its own beauty,
Swallows nesting around the farm buildings in May, Hay harvesting takes place in June & July, with corn harvesting around August & September.

Walking

Enjoy the rural tranquil location.

There are several circular walking routes straight from the lodge with beautiful scenic views across the rolling hills, meandering river valleys and the patchwork of fields. It is easy to get out and about, there are a network of trails, footpaths and bridal paths. We provide walking routes and walking books at the lodge.

You can even look down to the mouth of the Exe Estuary and back across to Dartmoor on one of the walks.

Fishing Pond

We provide a small fishing pond which is stocked with Roach, Rudd and Perch.

You will be able to fish during the summer as many times as you like during your stay at no extra cost.

Or just relax, read a book, have a picnic and enjoy the pond area.

Birdwatching and wildlife

There is an abundance of garden, field and woodland birds, which can be seen from the Lodge.

Dragonflies, Moorhens, kingfishers, Canada Geese, Mallard ducks are often seen on our fishing pond, and as dusk falls you will hear the calls of a Tawny Owl.

Farm Produce

You can buy our free range Pound Farm produce
